Capsule Exhibit: Amy Emms

Amy Emms learned quilting as a young girl in Durham County, England. Her quilting skills, demonstrations, teaching and lecturing led to a re-popularization and revival of Durham Quilting, a style of quilting unique to Durham County. Amy’s devotion to The Durham style assured that the practice, once almost lost, endures as a treasured, unique style of British needlework. Emms was inducted into The Quilters Hall of Fame in 1992.

Discover Stories Stitched in Time
